Why Do We Want Healthier Schools?
Children and adolescents spend a majority of their weekly time in school. This provides an excellent opportunity for health education and the development of healthy behaviors. It is much easier to learn healthy behaviors at a young age than to try and change unhealthy behaviors in adulthood. School health can also help to decrease absenteeism and increase concentration in students. For more information on the importance of school health, visit CDC – Coordinated School Health.
