Since many Americans spend the majority of their time during the week at work, the worksite can be a great place for health promotion programs. Employers and employees benefit from good health in the workplace, which results in lower health care costs, increased productivity, and lower rates of absenteeism.
Obesity is one of America’s leading health problems. Medical expenses for obese employees are estimated to be 42% higher than for normal weight employees. The CDC has developed a program called LEAN Works! which can help businesses to develop and implement their own individualized obesity prevention program. Follow the link below for more information on why to implement a program, and how to plan, build, promote, and assess that program.
